Business Development Manager – Food Processing Equipment

€55,000–€75,000 Base Salary + 5% Bonus | Company Car | Pension | Laptop | 21 Days Holiday

The Company

An established international manufacturer and supplier of specialist equipment and automated solutions for the food production and packaging industry.

With a strong reputation in its market and a well-established customer base, the business supplies equipment to food manufacturers across a range of sectors. The company combines international technical expertise with a close-knit local team, offering customers reliable equipment, technical support and tailored solutions.

Due to continued business development, they are looking to appoint a driven Business Development Manager to develop new business and grow their presence across Ireland.

The Role

This is a field-based sales position focused on selling capital equipment and production solutions to food manufacturers, including businesses involved in meat processing, bakery and prepared food production.

You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing relationships with production and engineering decision-makers, and managing the sales process from initial prospecting through to project completion.

The role is heavily focused on new business initially, with the opportunity to develop long-term customer relationships and account management responsibilities over time.

You'll be selling a well-established equipment range, with typical projects valued at approximately €150,000–€300,000.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the food manufacturing sector
  • Proactively prospect potential customers through field visits, calls and meetings
  • Build relationships with production managers, engineering managers and business owners
  • Identify customer requirements and recommend suitable equipment solutions
  • Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through to negotiation and project win
  • Develop a pipeline of capital equipment and production line opportunities
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships
  • Work closely with internal technical and commercial teams to deliver customer solutions
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to the wider business growth strategy

Career Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven salesperson to join a respected international equipment business and take ownership of a significant territory.

The role offers the chance to sell high-value technical solutions, build relationships with established food manufacturers and work on projects that can make a real difference to customers' production operations.

You'll receive product training and support, so previous experience with the specific equipment isn't essential. The key is your ability to open doors, understand customer needs and turn opportunities into commercial wins.

The Person

We're looking for a proactive B2B salesperson with a strong new business mindset and experience in field-based sales.

Candidates from food production, food packaging, manufacturing equipment or other technical capital equipment environments would be particularly attractive. Those from other B2B sales backgrounds may also be considered if they can demonstrate the right commercial ability and aptitude for learning technical products.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in B2B field sales and new business development
  • A proven ability to identify prospects and generate sales opportunities
  • Confidence engaging with production, engineering and senior business contacts
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • The resilience and persistence required for a proactive sales role
  • The ability to understand technical products and customer applications
  • A self-motivated and organised approach to managing your territory
  • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to build long-term relationships

Food manufacturing or technical equipment sales experience would be a significant advantage , but the company is open to strong salespeople who can learn the product range.

The Package

  • €55,000–€75,000 basic salary , depending on experience
  • 5% annual bonus
  • Company car
  • Pension
  • Laptop
  • 21 days' annual leave
  • Product training and ongoing support

Location

Ireland – territory to be agreed

The role is field-based, with the territory broadly covering either side of a corridor between Dublin and Galway. The precise area can be discussed based on the successful candidate's location.
