Technical Specification Manager
€80,000–€90,000 Base Salary + Bonus | Company Vehicle | 10% Pension | 24 Days Holiday | Laptop
The Company
An established supplier of technical building services products, supporting projects across the residential construction and plumbing and heating sectors.
The business works with a broad network of industry professionals, from consultants and developers through to contractors and distribution partners. They are now looking to appoint a Technical Specification Manager to develop relationships with key industry stakeholders and increase the specification of their products across Ireland.
The Role
This is a technically focused, relationship-driven position centred on influencing product selection during the early stages of residential construction projects.
You'll work closely with design consultants, specifiers, developers and contractors to ensure suitable plumbing and heating solutions are incorporated into project designs. A key focus will be developing opportunities within the underfloor heating market, alongside the wider domestic plumbing product portfolio.
The role involves technical presentations, product demonstrations and CPD sessions, helping industry professionals understand the benefits and applications of the products.
This is not a traditional sales or account management role . Success will come from building credibility with consultants, developing long-term relationships and securing specifications that create future commercial opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop relationships with design consultants, specifiers and developers
- Increase product specification across residential construction projects
- Promote underfloor heating and wider plumbing and heating solutions
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and CPD sessions
- Engage with contractors, subcontractors, merchants and buying groups
- Identify projects at an early design stage and influence product selection
- Provide technical information and support to industry professionals
- Work closely with internal sales and technical teams to develop opportunities
- Monitor project pipelines and identify future specification opportunities
Career Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a technical specification role within an established business, with the freedom to develop relationships and influence projects across the Irish market.
You'll have the opportunity to work with influential consultants and developers, build a strong network within residential construction and help grow the adoption of specialist plumbing and heating solutions.
Full onboarding and support will be provided by the senior team, including product and technical training. The business is looking for someone who can represent it professionally, build trust with key stakeholders and make a lasting impact on its market position.
The Person
We're looking for an experienced technical or specification professional with a background in plumbing, heating or related building services products.
Experience working with design consultants and influencing product selection at the early stages of projects is particularly important. A degree-level education is specified, alongside the ability to communicate technical information confidently to a range of audiences.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in technical specification, technical sales or consultant engagement
- Knowledge of domestic plumbing and heating products
- Experience working with design consultants, specifiers or developers
- An understanding of the residential construction market
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- The ability to explain technical products and applications clearly
- A polished, professional and approachable manner
- Strong organisation and relationship-building skills
- A proactive work ethic and the confidence to work independently
Underfloor heating experience would be advantageous, but a strong background in related plumbing and heating products would also be relevant.
The Package
- €80,000–€90,000 basic salary
- Annual bonus, details to be confirmed
- Company vehicle
- Pension contribution
- Laptop and mobile phone
- 24 days' annual leave
- Structured onboarding and product training
Location
Ireland – nationwide territory
The role covers all 32 counties, with a particular focus on Leinster and major urban centres. The position involves regular travel to meet consultants, developers and other industry stakeholders, alongside some home-based working.
Candidates based within reasonable reach of Dublin would be preferred, although the location is flexible for the right person.
