Lathe Machinist


Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois


Salary: €34,600 – €36,600 + Overtime

• Monday to Friday role

• 40-hour working week

• Overtime paid at 1.5x rate

• Established engineering and repair environment

THE COMPANY:


Our client is a well-established engineering and equipment services business supporting customers across construction, quarrying, industrial and heavy engineering sectors. With a strong reputation for quality workmanship and customer service, they continue to invest in their workshop capabilities and engineering team.


Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Lathe Machinist to join their Portlaoise-based operation.


THE ROLE:


The successful Lathe Machinist will be responsible for machining, repairing and manufacturing components used within heavy industrial and plant equipment applications.


Working within a busy workshop environment, you will utilise your machining skills to manufacture replacement components, restore worn parts and support equipment repair activities.


Key responsibilities include:


• Operating manual lathe machinery

• Manufacturing and refurbishing engineering components

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

• Working to tight tolerances and customer specifications

• Machining shafts, pins, bushes and other precision components

• Inspecting finished components to ensure quality standards are met

• Supporting repair and overhaul projects

• Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment

• Working closely with the wider engineering and workshop team


THE PERSON:


We are looking to speak with candidates who have experience within machining, precision engineering, heavy engineering, maintenance workshops or manufacturing environments.


The ideal candidate will have:


• Previous lathe machining experience

• Experience operating manual lathes

• Ability to read engineering drawings

• Strong attention to detail

• Good understanding of machining tolerances and measurement equipment

• Experience within heavy engineering, plant, manufacturing or repair environments would be advantageous

• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently

• Good communication and teamwork skills


THE PACKAGE:


• Base Salary: €34,600 – €36,600 DOE

• Overtime Paid at 1.5x Rate

• Monday to Friday Working Pattern

• 40-Hour Week
