Senior Sales Engineer

€60,000–€75,000 base, €10,000–€20,000 OTE, company car, pension, laptop, and 24 days’ holiday.

The Company

Our client is a well-established international manufacturer of industrial technology and automation solutions, with a strong presence across the Irish manufacturing and OEM market.

The business provides technical products and solutions to manufacturers, machine builders, and industrial customers, supporting applications across automation, machinery, robotics, and process environments.

With an established customer base and strong technical support structure, the business is looking to strengthen its sales team with an experienced technical sales professional.

The Role

This is a Senior Sales Engineer position covering the Republic of Ireland, focused on developing and growing relationships with OEMs, machine builders, and industrial customers.

The role will combine account management and business development, with approximately 80% of the position focused on developing existing accounts and 20% on developing new opportunities.

The successful candidate will manage an established portfolio of customers while identifying opportunities to increase revenue, introduce additional solutions, and develop new OEM relationships.

Products will include a range of industrial sensors and automation technologies, with the role requiring the ability to understand customer applications, explain technical solutions, and work with customers to identify the right products for their requirements.

The role covers the 26 counties, with Monday spent in the office and Tuesday to Friday predominantly on the road.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and growing an established portfolio of OEM and industrial customers.
  • Developing new business opportunities and expanding the customer base.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase revenue across existing accounts.
  • Understanding customer applications and recommending appropriate technical solutions.
  • Building relationships with design engineers, procurement, buyers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Supporting customers with product selection and technical queries.
  • Managing the sales pipeline and working towards agreed growth targets.
  • Working collaboratively with internal technical and programming teams.

Career Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful international technical business with an established customer base and strong growth potential.

The successful candidate will inherit a portfolio of established accounts while having genuine scope to develop those relationships and increase the value of the territory.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of OEM, automation, machinery, and manufacturing applications, making it an attractive opportunity for an experienced technical sales professional looking to take the next step in their career.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years' technical sales experience, ideally within manufacturing, automation, OEM, or a related engineering environment.

A third-level engineering qualification would be advantageous, although strong technical sales experience will also be considered. Experience selling complete technical solutions rather than single-component products would be particularly relevant.

The right person will be:

  • Commercially driven and confident developing customer relationships.
  • Comfortable discussing technical applications with engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong at building long-term customer relationships.
  • Confident negotiating commercially with customers.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing a nationwide territory.
  • Able to understand customer requirements and translate them into suitable solutions.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with technical and internal teams.

The Package

  • €60,000–€65,000 base salary.
  • €10,000–€20,000 OTE.
  • Company car.
  • Pension, with employer matching up to 9%.
  • Laptop.
  • 24 days' annual leave.

Location

The successful candidate should ideally be based in the Greater Dublin Area or Midlands.

This is a nationwide role covering the 26 counties, with Monday spent in the office and Tuesday to Friday predominantly on the road.
